I figured out that running 20 more than once helped me a lot in the marathon. Not that I have ever ran a marathon, but many of my friends who have, also believe in following with a sprint or oly race in order to have a reason to bounce back after the race.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2367925279775531528.post-37968345720598155762010-02-15T15:46:15.184-08:002010-02-15T15:46:15.184-08:00Great job on your 20 miler!

I believe that a half iron triathlon would be much harder then a marathon. Training for three disciplines instead of just concentrating on running requires a lot more planning.Chuckhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/00412568900686705554noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2367925279775531528.post-63343755578613561232010-02-15T11:31:35.478-08:002010-02-15T11:31:35.478-08:00Congrats on getting that 20 miler done! The answer is NO! I don't recall even running a 20 miler before my first marathon. I do recall being dropped off on south LV Blvd. 20 miles from home with Andi before marathon #2 and both limping home. I think I am finally getting "used to" the 20 miler after 7 years of this marathon stuff. That doesn't mean I don't get sore. That doesn't go away, I am just more used to it. I am at a point now where I can do 20 in the morning, then yard work, and build a garden box in the afternoon. That doesn't happen over night. The strength training/core work that I do certainly helps. I would be cautious adding anything too different this late in the game though. Some light swimming and biking, but be careful not to over do it. They say that the more 20+ milers are in your program, the more likely you are to accomplish your goals. Let me know how you recover this week. An EASY run tomorrow wouldn't be a bad idea.Karl Stutelberghttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17513950203642701864noreply@blogger.com
